Description
Nestled in the foothills of Mt Mistake, just 1.5 hours southwest of Brisbane, Shingle Hut Creek Farm is a family-owned labour of love run by Dominic and Sandra Lawson. Spanning 2,400 acres of rolling hills and escarpment, the farm is more than just a place to raise cattle—it’s a way of life. Here, the focus is on producing nourishing, ethically raised beef, caring for the land, and ensuring a future where both thrive together.
Healthy Food, Ethically Grown
At Shingle Hut Creek Farm, good food starts with good farming. The cattle roam free on native pastures their entire lives, never seeing a grain feedlot. Instead, they graze naturally, playing a vital role in regenerating the land.
Through holistic grazing management, the farm’s cattle help build healthy soils, increase biodiversity, and store carbon, all while enjoying a stress-free life. The philosophy is simple: healthy land grows healthy grass, which feeds healthy cattle, which nourishes healthy families. By rotating grazing patterns, the pasture is never overworked, ensuring strong root systems that hold more water in droughts and reduce runoff in floods—better for the farm, better for the environment, and better for the cows.
Farm-Fresh, Locally Sold
Shingle Hut Creek Farm’s beef is available direct from the farm gate by appointment or at select local markets. Cuts are sold in portions, but for those looking to stock up, half or whole beasts are available by request. For those looking to stock their freezer with ethically raised beef, the farm also sells at the Mulgowie Farmers Market on the first Saturday of each month from 8 to 11 am. Whether visiting the market or stopping by the farm gate, customers can enjoy fresh, locally sourced beef, raised with care and dedication to quality.
