There will be plenty of thrills and heart-stopping moments out on Lake Dyer this June when some of the world’s best speed boat racers battle it out at Lockyer Powerfest 2025.

Hosted by the Gold Coast Power Boat and Sports Club, Lockyer Powerfest is the third round of the Battery World National Drivers’ Championship.

These boats need to be seen to be believed, and that’s a big part of the reason as to why they race in front of big crowds every year.

Known as BAD [Blown Alcohol Displacement] boats, or Forced Induction Inboard boats, they feature engines of up to 2500-horsepower capable of propelling them from 0-160mph (255kph) in under five seconds!

Boats compete on a circular course (around buoys separated by up to 700m) over three laps.

A maximum of six boats will compete in each heat/ final. Hot laps (a single qualifying lap) precede two qualifying heats where the fastest overall time sets the field for the final.
The first boat to across the line in the A-Main final is the winner of the round.

There will also be a range of food trucks serving up delicious cuisines, amenties, free on-site parking plus much more.

Whether you are a return spectator or going along for the first time, these three-day spectacular promises to be fun for the whole family!
